Healthy Belvedere Announces Summer Grants: June 1, 2009

HBimage_0Healthy Belvedere has awarded $15,000 in grants to 10 community groups to support activities that encourage Healthy Eating and Active Living (HEAL) in the Belvedere community.

Grantees are as follows:

  • G+G Organics
  • Kirby Childcare
  • Healthy Food Eater
  • Solomon’s Porch Ministry
  • Saint Philip A.M.E. Church Health Ministry
  • White Oak Hills Neighborhood Association
  • Hills of Help Outreach Ministries, Inc.
  • Oakhurst Medical Centers, Inc
  • Christ the Lord Church
  • NWOLM

During this second year of the Healthy Belvedere initiative, community residents and stakeholders known as “co-investors” were selected to guide the entire grants process. These co-investors have contributed their time, passion and knowledge of the community by serving as reviewers of the grant applications and ultimately as coaches to the 10 new grantees.

Funded activities will take place now through September. A calendar of activities will soon be available on the Healthy Belvedere website atwww.healthybelvedere.org. The Belvedere community is encouraged to visit the site and learn more about how to get involved.
