Thank you for 100% of Extra Wishes granted!

When I started with the Community Foundation in October 2018, one of my first tasks was tracking granted wishes from Extra Wish. In this year-end publication, nonprofits submit a tangible wish list and donors choose wishes to grant. Simple enough, right? This was more than wish granting. The donors’ acts of giving were intentional and each wish was granted thoughtfully with purpose. They are serving those in need, eradicating issues, establishing provisions or simply beautifying our glorious city and every bit helps.

I was astounded by the outpouring of generosity in such a short amount of time and each nonprofit was overwhelmed with gratitude for consideration and overjoyed with each gift. The total gifts based on the Extra Wish catalog was $97,000, but through the kindness of our phenomenal donor community, $280,849 was given to fund wishes – funding the entirety of the opportunity catalog. This speaks volumes about who our amazing donors are in this community.

So what did I learn from this task? Our donors are committed to preserving the beauty and continuous development of Atlanta’s culture and vitality by engaging and supporting nonprofits that truly want to help our region thrive. I am grateful every day to be reminded that people care.
