Donata Russell Major is President of the Herman J. Russell Foundation, a family foundation that supports community initiatives and programs focusing on entrepreneurship, youth development and mentoring. Ms. Major is committed to sharing her family’s good fortune and supports initiatives that improve the quality of life in communities where the Russell family’s companies operate. 

Ms. Major also serves the vice chairman of Concessions International, LLC, a national food and beverage operator. Founded in 1979, Concessions International specializes in airport food and beverage concession operations and currently operates and manages concession facilities in eight major airports across the nation.  

Ms. Major has been an integral part of Concessions International’s management team for more than 20 years. She formerly served as president of the company and was responsible for ensuring the successful management of all company departments and enterprises and for the development and actualization of the company’s vision, missions and strategic plan. 

Ms. Major is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Economics in Management and Marketing. She is a member the Board of Directors of H. J. Russell Company, Concessions International, LLC, Whitefoord Community Program, Atlanta Partners for Education, Early Learning Property Management (ELPM) and I.M.A.G.E. After-School Program. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  

Ms. Major lives in Atlanta and is the mother of two sons in college.

Foundation measures metro Atlanta's philanthropy

At The Community Foundation, we are committed to promoting and supporting philanthropy in the metro Atlanta region.

In 2010 we commissioned an in-depth study to track the investment and engagement of residents in our 23-county region in four key areas: Community Involvement, Philanthropic Giving, Volunteerism, and Public Policy Involvement.

It is our intent to conduct this study every three years to see changes in how Atlantans are connected and engaged around in the four key areas.
