Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta
Setting the Stage
Leading and inspiring philanthropy to increase the vitality of our region and the well-being of all residents is the hallmark of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta’s work. With nearly 70 years serving the 23-county Atlanta region and a robust team of experts, the Community Foundation expands philanthropic reach and impact by providing quality services to donors and bold, innovative community leadership.
Since its inception in 1951, the Foundation has granted more than $1.7B in collective grants to nonprofits locally, regionally and around the globe, with more than 75% of those dollars staying in the metropolitan region. This leadership has catapulted the Foundation to its current top-20 status by asset size, amongst over 750 community foundations across the country.
Today, the Foundation is one of Georgia’s largest, granting approximately $120M annually through its generous donor families and managing approximately $1.1B in assets.
In 2019 Charity Navigator named the Community Foundation a four-star rated nonprofit, its top distinction, putting the Foundation among the top 10 highest-rated community foundations nationwide for its programs and services.
Now poised to leverage this success to begin a new era, the Community Foundation seeks to inspire and deliver impact through new leadership following the indomitable and inspirational 42-year-tenure of Alicia Philipp.
To that end, the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta’s Board of Directors has initiated a CEO selection process, beginning in mid-February, for a successor to Ms. Philipp, who announced her retirement in November 2019.
The Board has appointed a search committee to lead the work of candidate identification, vetting, counsel and interviews, through the engagement of the executive search firm, BoardWalk Consulting.
