I am a Jew . I am a Christian. I am a Muslim.
How can I as a Jew and a rabbi state what I just stated? It is because as a Jew I understand both Christianity and Islam to be my two daughter religions. I can accept their teachings of understanding and love toward our fellow human beings as my own. But as well, I reject whatever teachings may lead to the exclusion of and violence toward others.
What we have recently witnessed is a terrible manifestation of bloodstained Islamic extremism. But just as I refuse to damn Christianity and every Christian because the Holocaust took place in the heart of Christian Europe, I will not, and pray nor will you, damn Islam and every Muslim for the recent violence done in the name of Islam.
