Today the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta named the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta its 32nd annual Managing for Excellence Award winner. This award recognizes nonprofit organizations that demonstrate the attributes of a successful business, such as strong leadership, consistent business practices, stable infrastructure and strong allegiance to support its mission and impact.
“We are honored to be chosen for this prestigious award by the Community Foundation,” said Amy Dosik, CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta. “To be recognized for outstanding nonprofit management means we’re being good stewards of the resources that our community has invested in Girl Scouts. This grant will support the delivery of STEM, financial literacy, life skills and outdoor education programming to the more than 42,000 girls who are the future leaders of our greater Atlanta community. An increasing percentage of our members need financial assistance to be a Girl Scout, and this award will help to make scouting a reality for more than 10,000 girls from underserved communities. We are grateful to the Community Foundation for their support of our mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.”
Managing for Excellence is engineered to uncover and recognize the best of the best. The Girl Scouts was selected through a rigorous and competitive application and site visit process, during which the organization was evaluated on over 80 criteria. The Girl Scouts will receive a $75,000 award from the Community Foundation as well as a diverse array of recognition opportunities and customized consulting services from The Boston Consulting Group, the sponsor of the award.
