Help Beirut

August 5, 2020
 /

On Tuesday, August 4, Beirut, Lebanon was rocked by a massive explosion near its port. At least 100 people were killed and thousands more were wounded or have been reported missing. Up to 300,000 people have lost their homes and one month of grain reserves for the entire country was destroyed, as was the country’s main port. All of this while Lebanon’s health system is already stretched because of the COVID-19 pandemic, complicating response to this catastrophe.

Many of our donors want to know how they can help the victims, so we have assembled the list below. To make a grant, contact your philanthropic officer. Because this international disaster falls outside of our 23-county service area, this list is not fully vetted. It was informed by multiple online sources and two fantastic articles in Australian GQ and Independent.

We will continue to add to this list in the coming days as more about the crisis becomes available.
