In the past few weeks, states along the western coast of the United States have seen a record-breaking fire season, with associated displacement of residents, damage to buildings and forests and health impacts from smoke-filled air. With fire season still beginning, it’s difficult to estimate the full economic and environmental effects of this crisis, but 2020 has already shattered the all-time California record with 3.2 million acres burned so far.
Many of our donors want to know how they can help with short-term response and long-term recovery in California and Oregon. Below is a list of organizations providing direct assistance and funds that support local nonprofits working to assist the victims of the fires and rebuild burned businesses and communities.
Direct Relief – California Wildfires
Latino Community Foundation – California Wildfire Relief Fund
Oregon Community Foundation – Oregon Wildfire Relief and Recovery
United Way Bay Area – Greater Bay Area Central Coast Wildfire Relief Fund
In addition, this is a list of community foundations in California that have relief funds in place.
