
On Saturday, August 14, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti, causing widespread disaster and disruption. An estimated 1,400 have died, with many more injured or displaced. Severe weather and flooding from incoming Tropical Depression Grace later this week may hamper relief and rescue efforts. We will update this list in the coming days as the storm’s path is more certain.
CARE is responding to the crisis with emergency food, shelter, health services, and hygiene kits.
Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE)launched an immediate response to provide emergency support to survivors, including shelter, rubble removal support and medical assistance.
CNN has created a relief fund for Haiti that will support 22 local organizations working on the response there. On this webpage, you can donate to the fund or directly to the local organizations.
Hope for Haiti is providing wound care, emergency kits and other essential services like clean water to members of the community.
Several W.K. Kellogg Foundation grant recipients are responding to the disaster, either directly and or by channeling funds to grassroots organizations. See the full list here.
