ATLANTA – October 19, 2021 – The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta announces $1.06 million in grants to 29 organizations to fund efforts in the arts, while simultaneously announcing the opening of a second grant cycle for funding by year-end.

The Foundation’s Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund second grant cycle for 2021 is open and receiving grant applications through Friday, November 19. Eligibility requirements and the application are available on the Arts Fund website.

“Arts organizations enable local communities to thrive by increasing access for all Atlantans to creativity and culture. Their ability to help us understand our feelings and what’s happening in our world is imperative in times of change or when we need hope,” said Frank Fernandez, president and CEO of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. “Since the pandemic began, we have taken a look at how we can increase equity across the region in all its forms, including the arts. This important sector is an intersection of so much in our society – in addition to helping us understand the human condition, it reflects and helps us process the issues and opportunities in our society. Through extensive conversations with arts leaders, funders and community members, and the expertise of a national consultant, we have worked to understand both quantitatively and qualitatively what we need to do to ensure the future is better for Atlanta’s arts sector. You will see us making changes as we implement this re-imagined approach. There is more to do, and we move forward with urgency as we continue to make changes and announce new grants for 2021 and beyond.”

For the arts, the Foundation prioritized organizations that are serving or founded and/or led by Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC). Almost 70% of organizations awarded in this round fit those criteria. We will be announcing grants providing funding for community development, education, housing and more on October 25, 2021.
