
Organizations focusing on systemic reform related to income and wealth, places and systems, and power and leadership among grantees
ATLANTA – August 11, 2022 – In keeping with its five-year pledge to transform the systems that underpin some of the greatest inequities facing the Southeast, the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta announces its second round of grants made under TogetherATL, its five-year strategic plan to advance equity and shared prosperity in the metro Atlanta region.
“At its core, equity is about ensuring that everyone, regardless of income level or racial or ethnic background, has a seat at the table and a say in decisions that affect their lives,” says Ayana Gabriel, vice president Community Impact for the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. “Through these grants, and by extension, TogetherATL, the Foundation is helping these incredible organizations take real steps toward bringing everyone to the table.”
Grants awarded for Income & Wealth:
The following grant awards were made possible through co-investment between the Foundation and an anonymous donor-advised fund of the Foundation:
- Automotive Training Center: $15,000 to provide vocational and technical training for Black youth in metro Atlanta
- Inspired U: $15,000 to improve digital inclusion and access, as well as increase digital literacy among Atlanta’s underserved youth and their families
- Tommy Nobis Center: $15,000 for vocational training programming
- Women in Technology: $15,000 in general operating support to train single mothers in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics)
Grant awarded for TogetherATL General Fund:
- WABE: $35,000 for the Coffee Conversations program that explores neighborhood-specific challenges and successes through hosting radio shows in coffee shops in five different communities across metro Atlanta, emceed by award-winning journalist Rose Scott.
Additional grants made by the Foundation in July include the following:
- Discretionary fund distributions: $3.4 million
- Scholarships: $2 million
