Professional advisor Terri Monroe recommended opening an account for Diane’s purpose-driven work. Diane had become frustrated with the lack of detailed online information about nonprofits, and sought a more robust solution. “I love the idea of giving back to local neighbors,” explains Diane. “I don’t need to go 8,000 miles away when there are struggling families eight miles away.”
“No matter how hard someone has worked for what they have,” continues Diane, “it is still a gift. We are stewards of that gift. It’s on us to share it”.
And share, she does. Through her fund, Kinship With All Beings (inspired from a quote from Buddhist nun and author, Pema Chödron), Diane partners with her philanthropic officer to source nonprofits that work with Atlantans who don’t have a voice — animals, children, women who are experiencing homelessness or abuse, and other marginalized communities.
“At the end of the day, true compassion does not come from wanting to help those less fortunate than ourselves, it comes from realizing our kinship with all beings. What our world needs now, is to understand that we are all connected.”
