The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta has awarded $800,000 in general operating support to 13 nonprofits through its Common Good Funds program. Organizations receiving grants will be able to use the funds to support their overall operations and daily activities as they deem appropriate. Last year, The Community Foundation developed its focus on general operating support to better strengthen nonprofits in the region. This grantmaking strategy will remain a priority in 2010 for the Common Good Funds, as well as the Foundation’s Arts Fund and AIDS Fund.
Additionally, four organizations will receive custom-designed packages of professional resources to help respond to a key organizational challenge or opportunity in one of the Foundation’s four focus areas – Strategic Planning & Business Analysis; Board Development; Fund Development Planning; and Advocacy. Each Common Good Funds grantee will also have the opportunity to apply for funds through The Community Foundation’s Nonprofit Scholarship program, which covers the costs of attendance for workshops, trainings and conferences.
