The human brain is a complicated machine. One billion people, nearly one in six of the world’s population, suffer from neurological disorders including Parkinson’s disease, strokes and migraines. Another one of four struggle with mental illness, from depression to anxiety to bipolar disorder.
Community Foundation donor Mary Rose Taylor, a former broadcaster and former leader of the Margaret Mitchell Foundation, is enthralled by the brain. That fascination, combined with the loss of a family member to Alheizmer’s and her own diagnosis of ALS, has driven her to be an indomitable champion for neurodegenerative disease. She was a founding partner of Emory’s Brain Health Center. She was an integral part of the inception and creation of Your Fantastic Mind, a new 12-part news television show produced by the Emory Brain Health Center, Georgia Public Broadcasting and the Southern Company Foundation.
Your Fantastic Mind will air on Georgia Public Broadcasting starting Monday, January 28 at 8 p.m. Featuring compelling patient-centered stories on brain-related health and wellness, it will shed light on critically important conditions and issues that affect virtually every family in America. It will show us all how we can prevent disease to be healthier and happier by empowering viewers with greater insight into their own minds and brains.
