Grantmaking update: TogetherATL

April 19, 2022
 /

In January of 2022, the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta began work implementing a new five-year strategic plan addressing region-wide equity. TogetherATL is the Foundation’s strategic touchstone, our blueprint for a collaborative approach with community stakeholders, donors, nonprofit partners and others to examine the most complex challenges the region faces and to create solutions that build a thriving region. Together, we work to secure prosperity for all who call Atlanta home.

TogetherATL supports equity strategies, with a focus on racial equity, to build a better, greater region. TogetherATL centers community-informed grantmaking with an emphasis on places and systems:

  • In order to effect long-lasting change, we recognize the need to transform systems that operate through deliberate policies and practices rooted in exclusion and racism to achieve lasting impact. The initial systems TogetherATL will address are housing, equity in the arts sector, growing power and leadership among communities of color and reducing racial income and wealth gaps.
  • We work with and for our community. This work will include listening to community voice and deep focus on supporting the people who live in specific places. Each community is dramatically different and each unique strategy will be shaped in partnership with residents to meet their needs.

What does that mean for our current programs and initiatives? Some programs might be new, some may be the same, or similar, and others might be transformed or sunset. We are working hard behind the scenes to evolve and update our grantmaking in alignment with TogetherATL.

On Wednesday, June 1, we will announce changes and grant opportunities for the rest of the year. If you have not done so already, please sign up for our email newsletter at the bottom of this page to receive updates.
