Everyone deserves to feel safe. On Saturday, May 14, 10 people in Buffalo, New York were killed while shopping for groceries in a racially-motivated hate crime. The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta condemns all hate crimes and the racist rhetoric that fuels them. Hate has no home in our nation, in our neighborhoods, or in our community. It is up to all of us – working together – to take action and build a more equitable and inclusive society, one where we are all safe in our homes, neighborhoods, and communities.
Our peers at the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo launched the Buffalo Together Community Response Fund, which will support the survivors of the deceased and those directly affected by this tragedy. The Fund will also address community needs beyond those directly affected, extending the organization’s ongoing work in advancing equity.
