Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta awards more than $500,000 in grants to eight organizations

Grants for COVID-19 vaccine outreach, cancer funding, education support, and tax credit outreach were made through field of interest and discretionary funds

ATLANTA – November 21, 2022 – Eight organizations making strides in the areas of COVID-19 education and vaccine support, cancer funding, education and tax outreach will receive more than $500,000 in grants from the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. The grants were made through field of interest and discretionary funds.

Field of Interest Grants

Field of interest funds are established by donors to support organizations addressing specific issues, populations, or geographies.

The following organizations received grants through the Humana Fund, dedicated to COVID-19 vaccination education and outreach, tax credit education and outreach, youth mental support, and housing support:

  • Black Child Development Institute – Atlanta: $75,000 for COVID-19 outreach and education aimed at Black families through community-based organizations, school systems, child care and Head Start providers across metro Atlanta.
  • Los Niños Primero: $25,000 for COVID-19 vaccine outreach and education for Latino families in North Fulton County.
  • United Way of Greater Atlanta: $50,000 for tax credit outreach and filing for low- and moderate-income families at more than 30 sites across metro Atlanta.

The following organizations received funding through the Gausmel-Payne Cancer Fund, which supports recognized programs serving cancer patients who live in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area:

Discretionary Funding Grant

The following grant supports the Foundation’s place-based work through TogetherATL, its five-year strategic plan focused on equity and shared prosperity:

  • Purpose Built Schools: $160,000 to support students and families relocating from the recently closed Forest Cove apartment complex in southeast Atlanta.
