Last weekend, 11 people were killed in a shooting at a Monterey Park, California celebration of the Lunar New Year, followed by yet another act of violence earlier this week in Half Moon Bay. Both of these attacks – which took place within 48 hours of each other – appeared to target California’s Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.
The Silicon Valley Community Foundation, in partnership with the San Francisco Foundation, will support their community and address the social, emotional, physical and mental health impacts on those traumatized by the incident through a new Emergency and Disaster Fund. If you would like to make gift to help the victims, consider donating to this fund.
To make a local impact, please find a list of organizations that support Atlanta’s own Asian American and Pacific Islander community’s needs, below:
- Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Atlanta
- Asian American Resource Center
- Center for Pan Asian Community Services
