As a woman of faith, LuRae Ahrendt endeavors to live by the Luke scripture, “To whom much is given, much is expected.” And, equipped with an entrepreneurial spirit who feels blessed beyond what she deserves, she has gathered her assets and is now giving them away through the Community Foundation.

“I love the idea of giving to a nonprofit to fulfill their specific need,” stated LuRae. “Our community is enriched by giving back to others. I want to be ever mindful of giving to those who have not had the same opportunities.”

As a nurse for five decades, LuRae has seen areas where there are all kinds of needs. Populations of people become disenfranchised because of economies, healthcare issues, housing and food insecurities, etc., similar needs shared by many Atlanta area neighbors. She chooses to serve the most catastrophically impacted because, as she reflected, “they need the support of all of us to become everything they can be. They need a hand up, not a handout.”

Much has been given to her, and she expects much of herself to make her impact most meaningful.
