My country, ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty . . . Lord give us some sanity!
The following is a remarkable prayer from one of my rabbinic colleagues in Minneapolis, Rabbi Michael Adam Latz. May it also resonate with you…
Source of Wisdom, Compassion & Rational Thought: Shine Your light on Congress this day, that they open their hearts & the doors of our nation, to end needless suffering, to shared prosperity, to health & dignity for every citizen. Remind them, not with floods or fury, but with simplicity and humility: We elected them to do the people’s business. They possess jobs for which they continue to be paid. It is past time for them to do their work. Source of Inspiration & Righteous Indignation, remind us, the citizens of this great land, to lift our voices & our hands, to call our elected leaders forth to fulfill their sacred trust, and remind us of our collective responsibility when they don’t. Amen.
